This year has been phenomenal. We have homeschooled years before but we weren’t able to afford many supplemental classes or experiences. We were just focusing on basic required subjects. This year, with the Utah Fits All Scholarship, we were able to bring subjects to life with more hands-on learning opportunities. We have two children with dyslexia and dysgraphia who really struggled in mainstream school but learn extremely well with visual hands-on experiences. The scholarship has opened new doors for us.
We received the scholarship for my daughters for the 2025-2026 school year and it has made such a difference. They are developing skills that could actually guide them into future careers and are able to thrive at what they are good at. They took Geology and we were able to buy equipment to identify and organize what they found. They have since identified and found geodes in the natural world completely by themselves. They took a sewing class and developed not only a love for fixing things but also a beneficial skill for life, and so much self confidence. They were also able to participate in the drama home school program at Scera Theater and have developed their confidence and made new friends. All these learning opportunities have built their strengths and really helped us discover talents that we didn’t know our girls had.
Because of the scholarship we were able to purchase curriculum specifically designed for those with dyslexia, which helps them feel capable in learning and takes away the frustration they had experienced in school before. They love learning now and are excited about every subject. This scholarship is helping us remove roadblocks of learning that my children had and allows them to discover knowledge in ways their brains can process and retain.
My daughter has said multiple times—This is the best school year ever!
